What are relational gestures?

Relational gestures are thoughtful actions, verbal expressions or even small gifts that convey love, care and appreciation to your child. These gestures transcend the realm of mere actions; they are powerful tools for building connection, fostering emotional regulation and creating a sense of safety and security for your child.

Examples of relational gestures in action:

  • Leaving a loving note in your child’s lunchbox.
  • Joining your child in their favourite activity, even if It’s not your cup of tea.
  • Creating a special handshake or ritual just for the two of you.
  • Offering a warm hug when your child is feeling overwhelmed.
  • Expressing gratitude for something specific your child did.

Try it and watch what happens to your relationship!
